Early Years Pupil Premium

What is Early Years Pupil Premium?

Pupil Premium is a Government fund given to eligible pupils to ensure that all children have an equal opportunity to learn and achieve. The nursery school receives about £300 per year for each eligible child.

How is Early Years Pupil Premium used?

This additional funding will enable us to provide extra resources, bringing learning benefits to eligible pupils as well as other children who attend the nursery school.

Who is entitled to Early Years Pupil Premium?

Children aged 3 and 4 years old who attend state-funded education will be eligible for EYPP if they meet at least 1 of the following criteria:

 - their family gets one of the following:

  • Income support
  • Income-based Jobseeker's Allowance
  • Income-related Employment and Support Allowance
  • Support under part VI of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999
  • The guaranteed element of State Pension Credit
  • Child Tax Credit (provided they are not also entitled to Working Tax Credit and have an annual gross income of no more than £16.190)
  • Working Tax Credit
  • Universal Credit

-they are currently being looked after by a local authority in England or Wales

-they have left care in England or Wales through:

  • Adoption
  • A special guardianship order
  • A child arrangement order

What should I do if I think my child is eligible?

The school will give every parent or carer a form to complete when their child starts at the nursery school. We can then apply to Derbyshire County Council for the additional EYPP funding. If you did not complete a form when your child started at the nursery school or your circumstances have changed and you think your child is now eligible, please contact the school as soon as possible. If you have any further questions about the EYPP, please ask at the School Office.

Please read the information below which gives details of our Pupil Premium Grant and how we allocate the funding.
