Supporting Dennis – Cake & Biscuit Stall Fundraiser
To help raise money for our sponsored child, Dennis, who lives in Kenya, we will be holding a Cake & Biscuit Stall at collection times on Wednesday 26th and Thursday 27th March.
🍪 How it Works: We will have a donation pot available – parents can contribute as much as they wish, and in return, enjoy some delicious cakes and biscuits! Please remember to bring along some change on these days.
About Dennis & How We Help
The money we raise at nursery goes directly towards Dennis’s education, providing him with textbooks, uniforms, school fees, and access to a Child Development Centre for:
✅ Health check-ups & medical care
✅ Education on health & hygiene
✅ Nutritious lunches
We are working with Compassion UK and have committed to raising £28 each month. If each child brought in just 50p a month, we could easily achieve this goal while teaching our children the value of helping others. Ongoing Support Any small donations throughout the year are greatly appreciated!
Children can put their contributions directly into the money boxes for Dennis within their bases or donations can be added via parent pay.
Thank you for your kindness and generosity! 💙
Four new community neurodiversity drop-in hubs have opened across Derbyshire to support children, young people, their families and their carers.
Local charities and voluntary organisations are providing advice, support and guidance to children and young people – and to their families and carers – as part of a plan to improve services.
Neurodivergence includes conditions such as autism spectrum, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, foetal alcohol syndrome, dyslexia, dyspraxia, and social anxiety.
The aim of the service in the new “neuro hubs” is to help provide early support – without the need for an assessment or diagnosis. This will help to prevent any impact from the condition from getting worse and will support children, young people aged up to 25, their families and carers to manage their condition successfully.

An opportunity for new parents to take a tour of nursery and enjoy some fun activities as well as an opportunity to meet our nursery team and view our fantastic nursery environment.
World Book Day takes place on Thursday 2nd March and we would like to invite you to join us in helping your child to make the most of this special occasion. The day will be spent engaging in activities in celebration of World Book Day to promote the value of reading.
Our theme for world book day is bedtime stories. We would like all children to come to school dressed in their pyjamas or onesies.
Join us in our ‘Get Caught Reading’ photo challenge. Children need to ‘Get Caught Reading’ in unusual locations and will need to ask a family member or friend to take a photograph of them which can be emailed into Nursery. We will create a display showing off the most unusual places our children have been reading and a prize will be given to the child who has been caught reading in the most unusual location. Photos need to be emailed into school by Wednesday 15th February. Please email kerry.hartwell@ripley-nur.derbyshire.sch.uk.
We would love to know your childs favourite bedtime story, if you could also take a photo of you both reading at bedtime and post it to your childs learning journal we can talk about the childrens favourite books in Nursery during the day.
We will use this day as an opportunity to raise funds to replenish our books and story props. We will be asking children and staff to each donate £1.00. The donation will be added onto parent pay.
You can join us in building your child’s enthusiasm for books well beyond World Book Day by reading together regularly and joining your local library if you are not yet members. For more information about World Book Day and ideas on sharing books at home, please visit worldbookday.com. Children are never too young to start their journey with books, and the benefits of reading are enormous. We hope, like us, you will use World Book Day to celebrate it with your child.
Thank you again for your continued support
