Busy Butterflies
Our 2–3 years room is a warm, nurturing environment where we are incredibly proud of the meaningful experiences we offer to support every child’s development. We promote communication and language skills through our lending library, encouraging a love of stories and shared reading at home. We value strong parent partnerships, which we nurture through initiatives such as our Bertie Bear travel buddy and our show and tell box, helping children share their experiences between home and nursery.
As part of the Smile4Life tooth brushing programme, we support children in building healthy habits from an early age and supporting families with home routines.
We work closely with the nursery school within our family groups to ensure smooth transitions, so children always feel safe, secure, and loved.
Our children have regular access to forest school sessions, which nurture their curiosity and deepen their connection with the natural world. Through exploring outdoor environments, they develop confidence, resilience, and a sense of wonder as they learn about nature firsthand. We are proud to support children in building a love and respect for the world around them, encouraging exploration, creativity, and independence in a calming and enriching outdoor setting.
Busy Butterflies class is led by our Assistant Manager, Karen Hitchcock along side 5 qualified practitioners.
The room has capacity for 16 children with a staff ratio of 1 staff member to 5 children (1:5).
Additionally, Karen leads our Little Badgers stay-and-play sessions, strengthening our connections with families in the local community.
Karen is also our dedicated advocate for wellbeing and mental health, playing a vital role in supporting both our team and the children in our care. She has developed a thoughtful wellbeing basket for all practitioners, providing resources and encouragement to help staff look after their own emotional wellbeing. We firmly believe that children need calm, nurturing adults to feel secure and confident enough to thrive, and Karen’s work helps ensure our team feels supported, valued, and ready to provide the highest quality care every day.
